Elm Tree's breeding program is built around what I value
in a horse:
  • Intelligence - Ability to learn, IQ in the horse is an inheritable
    trait.
  • Disposition - I breed for gentle, kind attitudes and willingness.
  • Genetics - Breed best to the best! Top bloodlines in the
thoroughbred are not an accident, but rather the result of
    hundreds of years planning.
  • Conformation - Build them to endure the rigors of performance.
  • Beauty - Sorry folks, this is a holdover from our halter horse
days... AND there is nothing so good to the heart as looking
out over a pasture of beautiful horses.

You will find the dams of our blood stock mares and
stallions here have either earnings or have produced
progeny with earnings - usually both. Our brood mares
are chosen for genetics, performance and longevity of
performance. I choose hard-knocking mares who've run
40 -50-60 or more races and have retired sound. Our
goal: to breed legs of iron back into the performance
thoroughbred.

However, overall, Elm Tree Farm is an affair of the
heart. Every horse is adored and treated as such.
                JD Bennett - owner.
